Explanation:

International Economic Development Week takes place May 4 through 8, 2026 and is intended to celebrate 100 years of economic development impact.  This week’s focus highlights community collaborations, innovation and long-term sustainable growth. It’s also an opportunity to highlight the city’s programs, best practices, and the role our economic development professionals play in our community.

One of the city’s core strategic plan focus areas is Economic Vitality.  In alignment with this priority, the Office of Communications, Marketing, and Economic Development (CMED) drives a proactive economic growth strategy designed to strengthen the local economy, enhance quality of life, and build resilient, vibrant neighborhoods. The team is dedicated to advancing business expansion, retention, and recruitment; fostering entrepreneurship; supporting workforce development; and accelerating corridor redevelopment initiatives and programs. By collaborating closely with local partners who share a commitment to Hollywood’s continued advancement, the CMED team remains unwavering in its mission to deliver sustained economic success and position the city for long-term prosperity.

The proclamation will be accepted by Joann Hussey, Director of the Office of Communications, Marketing and Economic Development along with Marie Suarez, Executive Director of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Fiscal Impact:

Approval of this proclamation will not fiscally impact the City.
