Explanation:
The Fire Rescue and Beach Safety Department ("Fire") and the Department of Design and Construction Management applied to the Florida Division of Emergency Management Fiscal Year 2024 - 2025 Hurricane Loss Mitigation Program ("HLMP") for the Fire Station 31 Wind Hardening Project. The purpose of the HLMP grant is to minimize damages caused by hurricanes and promote property resiliency through retrofits made to properties.
The City was awarded a $250,000 HLMP grant to assist with the replacement of the roof at Fire Station 31 to ensure the roof can withstand windstorm events. The HLMP grant does not require a cash match.
The Fire Chief and the Director of Design and Construction Management recommend that the appropriate City officials ratify the application for the 2024 - 2025 HLMP grant and further recommend acceptance and execution of the grant award.
Fiscal Impact:
If approved, grant funding in the amount of $250,000.00 will be appropriated in the FY 2025 Operating Budget for the 2025 Hurricane Loss Mitigation Program as detailed in Exhibit 1. Contingency funding for cost overruns will be allocated in the FY 2025 Capital Improvement Plan as detailed...
