Explanation:

The City of Hollywood recognizes that the community’s current success is built on the planning legacy of Joseph W. Young, its founder and first planner. Building upon this legacy of planning, the future success of the community depends on continued planning to create a framework. This future success is made possible by dedicated community planning professionals.  Professional community planners designated by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) are pledged to uphold the AICP Code of Ethics built on principles of responsibility to serve their employer, the profession, and the public overall. The professional community planners of the City of Hollywood work in the interconnected disciplines of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Urban Design, Policy, Long Range Planning, Development Review, and Zoning to provide comprehensive information to help inform thoughtful decision making.

Community Planning Month, sponsored by the American Planning Association, honors professional community planners; recognizes the dedication of appointed Planning and Development Board Members, and Historic Preservation Board Members, and encourages all citizens to engage in the planning process to help make the wonderful community an even better place to live, work, and thrive.

The proclamation will be accepted by the Development Services Director, Andria M. Wingett, and the Development Services Planning staff.
