Explanation:
The Office of Human Resources and Risk Management began the recruitment process for City Attorney applicants on March 12, 2025. The recruitment resulted in the receipt of 14 applications/resumes, of which eight applicants met the minimum and preferred qualifications. These applications were presented to the City Commission individually for review of the applicants’ submitted resumes, candidate questionnaires, and video recorded interviews.
At the May 28, 2025, Special City Commission Meeting, the City Commission short-listed candidates, and requested the candidates attend an in-person Special City Commission meeting for final interviews. Four individuals made the short-list of candidates for City Attorney interviews, including Damaris Henlon.
The City Commission interviewed the short-listed candidates during the Special City Commission meeting held June 18, 2025. On June 18, 2025, the City Commission approved the appointment of Damaris Henlon to the position of City Attorney and authorized the negotiation of an employment agreement with Ms. Henlon.
This Resolution seeks the approval of the Agreement with Ms. Henlon to serve as the next City Attorney for the City of Hollywood. This Agreement provides a starting annual base salary along with other benefits and emoluments customary for the position of City Attorney.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for the City Attorney’s contract (or employment agreement) is available in the FY 2025 Operating Budget.
