Explanation:

The City has an agreement with Kemp Group, LLC for school crossing guard services for an initial three-year period with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. The Police Department has exercised its first renewal option and would like to renew for its second and final one-year period.

The services provided by The Kemp Group, LLC are satisfactory, and the Police Department desires to continue school crossing guard services for the 2025-2026 school year. The annual contract increased by 12% to cover the cost of the legislative increase to Florida’s minimum wage and associated taxes and insurance.

Fiscal Impact:

A portion of the funding for school crossing guard services is available in the FY 2025 Operating Budget in account number 001.204303.52100.531170.000000.000.000 and will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years’ operating budgets, subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission.
