Explanation:
The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization for the appropriate City Officials to submit a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant proposal to the Office of the Attorney General, State of Florida, for the continued funding for the additional full-time Police Department Victim Advocate.  The Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant Funds in an amount not to exceed $56,951.00 and cash match in an amount not to exceed $14,238.00 will be used to continue the funding for the additional full-time Police Department Victim Advocate. Certain accounts will need to be established in the appropriate fund to recognize the receipt of grant funding, if awarded, and appropriate identified grant funding for grant related expenditures.
 
The Police Department's Victim Advocate Program has significantly expanded its range of services to victims groups including elderly victims of crime.  The Police Department's Victim Advocate Program has been able to recruit, train and supervise volunteer Advocates, further expanding the program's direct service capacity to crime victims.
