Explanation:
The City Commission previously approved a blanket purchase agreement PA601120 (“PA601120”) with Aclara Technologies on July 2, 2025, to buy metering transmission units (“MTUs”) for the Public Utilities Department. The Advanced Metering Infrastructure division is now shifting its focus to proactively replace MTUs as part of its ongoing modernization efforts, which will significantly increase utilization of the current inventory. This planned work supports the City’s broader initiative to improve metering accuracy, enhance system reliability, and reduce the need for manual field visits. To ensure the Department can continue these efforts without interruption, a change order is requested to increase PA601120 from $236,875.20 to $500,000.00, and to extend the term an additional 120 days while a new contract is negotiated and prepared to be brought forward for City Commission consideration.
Fiscal Impact:
A portion of the funding for this service is available in the FY 2026 Operating Budget in account number 442.400203.53600.552260.00000.000.000, and will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years’ operating budgets subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission.
