Explanation:

The City Commission adopted the current Naming Policy and Procedures on October 12, 2022 via Resolution R-2022-303. In further review of this policy and its practical application, a new policy has been drafted that provides clarification to several areas, including:

Defining amenities and what is eligible for naming rights

Offering an opportunity for co-naming of public streets only

Clarifying that the ballot/vote procedure for street renaming would only apply to full renaming and not co-naming

Specifying voting requirements for approval of the City Commission for both facilities/amenities and streets; distinguishing naming rights for individuals, both deceased and living

Updating application fees for naming of facilities/amenities

Providing for the applicability of fees and responsibility of costs associated with background checks, mailings, recording, administration, and signage

Providing for termination provisions, if applicable

Fiscal Impact:

Approval of this Resolution will not fiscally impact the City.
