Explanation:

The Hartford fire safety education grant has grant funding available for the purpose of enhancing fire safety awareness and education within the community.

The Fire Rescue and Beach Safety Department has applied for and been awarded the Hartford fire safety education grant for $5,000.00 to purchase fire safety public education materials and equipment to reduce the risk of fire and fire related injury or deaths throughout Hollywood.

These materials and equipment will be used to target communities in Hollywood which will be identified through a Community Risk Reduction program as having a high fire risk.

These public education materials and equipment will also be used throughout the year at various events such as the Department’s annual open house and Fire Prevention Week.

The Hartford fire safety education grant requires no cash match from the local government receiving the grant.

This funding will enhance the protection of the public from fire and fire related hazards.

Fiscal Impact:

The FY 2021 operating budget for the Special Revenue Fund (Fund 111) will be amended to recognize and appropriate this grant award as detailed in Exhibit 1.
