Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities ("DPU") needs Sodium Hydroxide 50% delivered in both full and less than full truckload quantities.
Sodium Hydroxide is used by the DPU to control the pH in the finished water at the Water Treatment Plant and to neutralize hydrogen sulfide odors at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
On July 5, 2023, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2023-210, approving the execution of Blanket Purchase Agreement ("BPA") PA600729 with Univar Solutions USA, Inc. ("Univar") for the supply and delivery of Sodium Hydroxide 50% in an estimated annual amount of $720,000.00 for an initial year term of April 19, 2023, to April 18, 2024, with four additional one-year renewal periods.
The DPU was delayed getting this item to the Commission because we had to wait for the lead municipal agency to finalize their renewal and provide the contracts to the cities within the Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative.
DPU wants to renew BPA No. PA600729 for the first renewal period of June 5, 2024, through April 18, 2025, in an annual amount not to exceed $720,000.00.
The City of Margate, Florida exercised their first renewal option on April 19, 2024, providing a new expiration date of April 18, 2025, for that contract's first renewal.
