Staff Recommends: Presentation of the Award

Explanation:

The National Procurement Institute (“NPI”), a non-profit organization founded in 1968, has developed criteria and evaluates submissions in procurement, and the City of Hollywood has been awarded this prestigious award for 2021.  Only 182 agencies in the United States and Canada, and only 64 cities, have received the award this year.

The award criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership attributes of the procurement function.

As evidenced by the receipt of this award, Steve Stewart, the City’s Assistant Director, Financial Services for Procurement/Chief Procurement Officer and his staff were successful in meeting the high standards and rigorous application process of the program.  The City last received this award in 2008, so this demonstrates a renewed commitment to excellence in public procurement.

The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement is sponsored by the NPI, the Canadian Public Procurement Council, NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement, the National Association of Educational Procurement, The Florida Association pf Public Procurement Officials, and various other state procurement associations.

Recommended for inclusion on the agenda by:

Steve Stewart, Assistant Director, Financial Services for Procurement/CPO

David E. Keller, Director, Financial Services Department
