Explanation:

The Department of Public Works applied to the 2023 U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service Inflation Reduction Act Urban and Community Forestry Program for a $455,659.00 grant to plant approximately 478 trees in identified low-to-moderate income areas in the western and southwestern regions of the City. The project also includes community outreach and education to ensure proper care of the trees. On July 3, 2024, the grant was awarded through a passthrough subgrant agreement with the Hispanic Access Foundation.

 

The grant program does not require a cash match. 

 

 

Fiscal Impact:

Proceeds from the grant were recognized and allocated through Resolution R-2024-297.
