Staff Recommends: The Approval of the Attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Department of Public Works, Fleet Management Division, on behalf of the Police Department, requires the purchase of 37 new vehicles to replace existing vehicles.

The City is experiencing difficulty and delays in obtaining the types of vehicles needed due to pandemic related shortages.  The City has obtained quotes for available vehicles from Alan Jay Automotive Inc. and Duval Fleet, who have been dependable and reliable in providing vehicles to the City in the past.  The quotes are comparable in pricing to those listed on government cooperative purchasing contracts with Sourcewell and the Florida Sheriff’s Association.

The Director of Public Works and the Assistant Director of Financial Services for Procurement recommend that the City Commission approve and authorize the issuance of the draft Purchase Orders to Alan Jay Automotive Inc, and Duval Fleet for a total amount of $1,077,214.00.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for the purchase of these vehicle replacements was included in the FY2022 Capital Improvement Plan and is available in account number 117.209901.52100.564520.001453.000.000.
