Explanation:
The Water Treatment Plant Division of the Public Utilities Department requires the purchase of pebble (rice) size quicklime used in the treatment process of the spiractor water softening plant.
The City of Hollywood participated along with eighteen (18) other entities in the Southeast Florida Governmental Cooperative Purchasing Group Bid Number 11-25B processed by the City of Tamarac.
Pursuant to Section 38.46 of the Purchasing Ordinance of the City of Hollywood, the Director of Procurement Services shall have the authority to join with other governmental entities in cooperative purchasing plans when the best interests of the City would be served thereby.
The City of Tamarac issued awards to both Lhoist North America of Alabama LLC to supply the required rice size quicklime.
Lhoist North America of Alabama LLC has satisfactorily supplied the City of Hollywood with quicklime for fifteen (15) years.
The Director of Public Utilities Department and the Director of Procurement Services recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of the attached Blanket Purchase Order for the purchase of pebble (rice) size quicklime to Lhoist North America of Alabama LLC of Mulberry, Florida, for the first (1) year renewal term with the option to renew for two (2) remaining one (1) year period in an estimated annual expenditure of $505,580.00.
