Explanation:
In the State of Florida's 2024-2025 fiscal year budget process, the State of Florida, through the Department of Elder Affairs, appropriated funding in the amount of $228,000.00 to the City. This funding is expected to be approved by the State to be awarded to the City on a reoccurring annual bias, contingent upon the availability of such funds at the State level.

This funding is directed to the City through the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs and administered through the Areawide Council on Aging of Broward County, Inc. ("ACABC").

The grant funds will be utilized to continue the senior citizen recreation programs and services, including educational, cultural enrichment, field trips and tours, and will be offered through the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center.

For the City to begin utilizing the State's appropriated grant funds for the second half of Fiscal Year 2024 and first half of Fiscal Year 2025, it is necessary for the City and ACABC to enter into certain agreements to establish their mutual programming goals, standards and other criteria established by the State.

Fiscal Impact:
If approved, grant funding in the amount of $228,000.00 will be appropriated in the FY24 Operating Budget for the ACABC Grant as detailed in Exhibit 1.
