Explanation:
As part of the recent completion of the Army Corps of Engineers Beach Renourishment project known as the Shore Protection Project Segment III, Broward County Government is required to perform sand tilling and escarpment removal. Sand tilling involve leveling escarpments that are too high or interfere with marine turtle nesting. Tilling is the process of aerating soil to help with seed germination, root growth, and weed control.
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection issued Broward County (“County”) a Consolidated Joint Coastal Permit and Sovereign Submerged Lands Authorization (Permit number 0163435-015-JC) to perform beach tilling and escarpment removal, which are a component of the County’s beach renourishment and restoration activities, at various locations, including City-owned property.
The County desires temporary to grant such access to the County in accordance with the terms of the Temporary Access Agreement so that the County may help facilitate and complete the tilling and escarpment activities for the Shore Protection Project Segment III.
