Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

Recent King Tides have resulted in major erosion and partial collapse of the roadway along Surf Road at Balboa Street. The City’s Public Works Department has implemented various temporary measures to minimize further erosion.

On December 19, 2018, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2018-400 that authorized the execution of continuing service contracts with five firms, one of which was Atkins North America, Inc. to provide professional engineering services for civil, landscape architecture and planning services.  Staff requested a proposal from Atkins North America, Inc. to provide design, permitting and construction engineering services for restoration and reconstruction of this area.

The total fees for design, permitting and construction engineering relating to this project are in an amount not to exceed $157,140.00. However, it is necessary to amend the approved FY 2020 Capital Improvements Program and allocate funding for the project.
