Explanation:
Florida reported 3,736,521 tons of food waste in 2024. Florida’s 2024 population was approximately 23.37 million, which works out to about 0.16 ton-or 320 pounds-of food waste per person annually.
Applying that rate locally:
Area 2024 Population Estimated Food Waste Annually
Broward County 2,037,472 ≈ 325,700 tons
City of Hollywood 159,073 ≈ 25,400 tons
