Explanation:
The City regularly receives requests from residents throughout the City for Traffic Calming Devices to address speeding and cut-through traffic. These devices, which may include, but are not limited to speed feedback signs, speed tables or roundabouts, have been installed at numerous locations throughout the City in the past. Phases I and 2 of the Traffic Calming Program have recently been completed and as a result, approximately 60 local streets were evaluated (R-2020-056). There is a demonstrated and ongoing need to perform such studies to provide a safe environment along local streets throughout all of the neighborhoods in Hollywood.
On August 30, 2023, the City Commission authorized appropriate City Officials to apply for and if awarded, accept The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization's Cycle Complete Streets and other Localized Initiatives Program, to implement transportation projects related to traffic calming, specifically for West Park Road (R-2023-247). A traffic study will be necessary to help justify the project.
On December 19, 2018, the City Commission (R-2018-400) authorized continuing service contracts with five firms, one of which was Atkins North America, Inc. to provide professional engineering services for civil, landscape architecture and planning services.
