Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Police Department has applied to the Broward County Marine Advisory Committee to receive grant funds in the amount of $131,128.00, to promote and enhance the safe and pleasurable use of the navigable waterways within the City, and to protect and preserve the natural and man-made marine resources available throughout the City.

The grant application request increased from prior year allocations due to the expansion of the patrolled boundaries.  Previously, marine patrol stopped at Dania Beach Blvd.  The program's expansion would reimburse Hollywood Police for patrolling the area north of Dania Beach Boulevard and south of the Inlet.  This area is currently patrolled by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Fiscal Impact:

If awarded, grant funding in the amount of $131,128 will be appropriated in the FY 2026 Operating Budget of the Police Grant Fund (Fund 113).
