Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

 

 

Explanation:

The Police Department is required per Section 932.7055(5)(c)(3), Florida Statutes, to donate no less than 25 percent of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds during each fiscal year.  The funds are to be used for the support or operation of drug treatment, drug abuse education, drug prevention, crime prevention, and safe neighborhood programs.

 

Organizations request an appropriation by submitting a written certification that the donated funds will be used for an authorized purpose. The following organizations and agencies have been selected to receive a donation of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds based on compliance with the statutory criteria to receive such funds:

 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County                                                                                    $15,000.00

Heros Foundation                                                                                                                                                   $10,000.00

Hispanic Unity of Florida, Inc.                                                                                                         $10,000.00

Hollywood Art and Culture Center, Inc.                                                                                    $15,000.00

Kids in Distress, Inc.                                                                                                                              $15,000.00

The Salvation Army                                                                                                                               $10,000.00

The Police Athletic League of Hollywood, Inc.                                                               $50,000.00

 

 

Fiscal Impact:

Funding will be made available in the Fiscal Year 2025 as detailed in Exhibit 1, subject to approval of this resolution.
