Staff Recommends: Presentation by Solid Waste Authority of Broward County to present the 2024-25 Fiscal Year Budget.
Explanation:
On June 7, 2023 the City Commission authorized City Staff to enter into a Interlocal Agreement with Broward County for Solid Waste Disposal and Recyclable Materials Processing Authority of Broward County, FLA (“ILA) to develop and implement a long-term, environmentally sustainable, transparent, innovative and economically efficient plan and approach to disposal, reduction, recycling and reuse of waste generated in Broward County for a period of 40 years with up to two possible 10-year extensions. The City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2024-019 for this new ILA.
Under the current contract, The Solid Waste Authority of Broward County mission will be to protect the long-term public health, safety, and welfare of the residents of the Municipal Parties and County. The Authority will encourage recycling, reduction and reuse, in order to ultimately reach its goal of zero waste.
Waste Pro USA would like to present its budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 and address any concerns the City Commission with regard to the current agreement.
