Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

In the State of Florida’s 2026-2027 fiscal year budget process, the State of Florida, through the Department of Elder Affairs, appropriated funding in the amount of $170,000.00 to the City; and this funding is directed to the City through the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs and administered through the Area Agency on Aging of Broward County (“AAA”).

The grant funds will be utilized to enhance senior citizen recreation programs and services, including education, cultural enrichment, field trips and tours, and will be offered through the Boulevard Heights Community Center.  For the City to begin utilizing the State’s appropriated grant funds for the second half of Fiscal Year 2026 and first half of Fiscal Year 2027, it is necessary for the City and AAA to enter into certain agreements to establish their mutual programming goals, standards and other criteria established by the State.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, grant funding in the amount of $170,000.00 will be appropriated in the FY 2026 Operating Budget for the Boulevard Heights Community Center as detailed in the attached Exhibit “1.”
