Explanation:
The City has the responsibility for planning, regulating, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant ("SRWWTP"), a wastewater collection system including 85 sewer lift stations and a reuse water supply system within the City's corporate limits.
The existing Reuse Water Master Plan was developed in 2007 in accordance with the SRWWTP Facilities Operational Permit renewal requirement and has achieved its intended purpose and needs to be updated to most effectively fulfill the City's responsibilities, comply with regulatory program at various levels (federal, state, county and local), provide a high level of service to reuse water customers, fulfill contractual obligations, accommodate growth and economic development, and protect public health, safety and the environment.
Lift Station W-27 requires extensive structural rehabilitation and upgrade including replacement of equipment and downstream force main from Lift Station W-27 to Taft Street due to its age, condition and capacity limit. Considering the maintenance difficulties caused from the existing vertical pumps, the Department of Public Utilities ("Department") plans to convert vertical pumps configuration to dry pit submersible pumps per current lift station upgrade standards.
