Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution.

Explanation:
The area lying south of Hollywood Boulevard, north of Moffett Street, and generally east of and including 16th Avenue routinely experiences tidal inflows into the lower lying streets during the biannual spring tides.

The City has multiple gravity storm water outfalls into South Lake and the De Soto Canal which act as conduits for tidal inflows.

In an effort to prevent tidal inflows through the drainage system, the Department of Public Utilities staff determined that the best and most reasonable course of action is to install control structures with self-activating flap gates made of non-corrosive High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) material.

Department of Public Utilities staff prepared the project scope, technical specifications and construction documents.

On May 9, 2014, the Department of Public Utilities staff advertised the project soliciting qualified construction services, and on June 10, 2014, three (3) bid proposals were received at the Office of the City Clerk and were publicly opened at the City of Hollywood Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant with the following results:
