Explanation:
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts ("PRCA") and the Department of Design Construction Management ("DCM") have the opportunity to apply for funding in the amount of $200,000.00 for the Washington Park Community Center project to renovate the existing community facility into a flexible space that expands opportunities for arts and culture programming, education, and community engagement for residents of all ages.
The Florida Department of State, Division of Arts and Culture 2027 - 2028 Cultural Facilities ("DAC-CF") grant program allows for renovation, new construction, or acquisition of cultural facilities.
The City's DAC-CF grant application will request funding in an amount up to $200,000.00 for the renovation of the Washington Park Community Center.
The Directors of PRCA and DCM recommend the City Commission authorize the appropriate City officials to apply for funding and, if awarded, accept the DAC-CF grant.
Fiscal Impact:
If approved, grant funding in the amount of $200,000.00 will be appropriated in a future year Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Plan for renovation to Washington Park Community Center.
Funding for the City's required 2:1 grant match is available in the FY 2026 Capital Improvement Plan in account number 334.309901.57200.563010.001901.000.000.
