Explanation:
The 2026 National Historic Preservation Month theme is “All People Are Created Equal,” focusing on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Organized by the national trust for historic preservation, the month emphasizes preserving diverse sites that tell the full American story, reflecting on founding ideals, and promoting community revitalization.
This month provides an ideal opportunity to recognize how our community’s rich history honors the past while helping to shape the future. The City of Hollywood has long made protecting its historic character a priority through the adoption of preservation ordinances, the designation of historic sites and districts, and its continued support of efforts to safeguard the city’s heritage.
The proclamation will be accepted by Terry Cantrell, President of the Historic Preservation Advisory Board.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this proclamation will not fiscally impact the City.
