Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities (Department) Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWWTP) needs four new diesel day tanks to replace aging ones. The SRWWTP uses backup diesel generators. The fuel for these generators is stored onsite in diesel day tanks to ensure uninterrupted operations during power outages. The existing SRWWTP day tanks are approaching the end of their expected service life. These tanks are critical components of the emergency power system; failure to replace them poses operational risks, including system malfunctions, leaks, and non-compliance with safety regulations. Tank replacement is essential to maintaining the reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of the SRWWTP and protecting public health and safety.
