Explanation:
The Department of Public Works desires to execute a second agreement for solid waste disposal support services for the period October 1, 2024, through July 2, 2028.
In June 2012, Broward County contracted Wheelabrator Environmental Systems Inc. for waste disposal services. An interlocal agreement was established.
On September 1, 2012, Broward County and various municipalities within the county entered an interlocal agreement for solid waste disposal support services, which was later amended by a first amendment, allowing each Participating Community to select Wheelabrator for waste disposal services; and now, the City of Hollywood will be included in the initial agreement.
Participation in the Interlocal Agreement requires the City of Hollywood to be responsible for the collection, transport, delivery and deposit of the following waste: Yard Waste, Bulk Trash, Construction and Demolition Debris, Municipal Solid Waste ("MSW") and Recyclables at the following rates:
Residential MSW $56.15 per ton
Commercial MSW $101.15 per ton
Bulk/C&D $56.15 per ton
The City will manage the collection, transport, and disposal of various waste types, including residential and commercial municipal solid waste, yard waste, bulk trash, and construction debris.
