Explanation:
The FPL Storm Secure Undergrounding is a statewide initiative designed to move the overhead power lines underground in neighborhoods, therefore improving the reliability of electric service at homes and businesses in the designated areas. The initiative enhances grid resiliency by replacing overhead power lines with underground lines which reduces power outages and provides faster service restoration. Neighborhoods are selected for the program based on criteria approved by the Florida Public Service Commission, prioritizing areas that can most benefit from undergrounding.
FPL has identified an area in Hollywood that qualifies for the program. The area is in the vicinity of 1913 Coolidge Street, Hollywood, 33020, a City-owned property that houses Pump Station E-23. The requested easement will allow FPL to utilize a 10’ x 10’ area that abuts the alley for the installation of a pad-mounted transformer. FPL will be responsible for restoring the area landscape and fencing.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this Resolution will not fiscally impact the City.
