Explanation:
The Public Utilities Department has the responsibility for planning, regulating, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining a stormwater system, comprised of catch basins, drainage pipes, exfiltration trenches, outfalls, retaining ponds and stormwater pump stations within the City's corporate limits. An updated Stormwater Master Plan is required to most effectively fulfill the City's responsibilities, comply with regulatory program at various levels (federal, state, county and local), provide a high level of service to residents and customers, fulfill contractual obligations to large users, accommodate growth and economic development, and protect public health, safety and the environment.
The Stormwater Master Plan was developed in 2011 and needs to be re-developed to address the concerns of sea level rise ("SLR") and storm surge ("SS"). The scope of services for the new Stormwater Master Plan includes the following tasks:
* Data collection
* Develop of a hydraulic/hydrological stormwater model of the entire City, with GIS coordination with the latest high density topographic LiDAR data provided by Broward County and recent drainage projects.
* Incorporate Sea Level Rise (SLR) and storm surge (SS) scenarios in developing the comprehensive Stormwater Master Plan. Develop solutions and make recommendations to prevent tidal flooding.
