Explanation:
The City has engaged the law firm of Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L. (“Weiss Serota”) to provide legal services in various matters, including labor and employment. Section 38.41(C)(11)(i) of the Procurement Ordinance exempts contracts for professional services from the competitive bid and competitive proposal requirements of the Procurement Ordinance. When professional services are contracted and the estimated annual amount to be paid for those services exceeds $100,000.00, City Commission approval is required.
By the end of FY2023, amounts to be paid for those services exceeded $100,000.00. The City Attorney recommends that the City Commission approve the expenditure of an amount up to $250,000.000 for matters handled by Weiss Serota.

The funding for this agreement is available in the Fiscal Year 2023 Operating Budget in account number 001.020101.51400.531220.000000.000.000.
