Explanation:
The following is a sequence of events that occurred that explains how the City of Hollywood participated in the Consolidated Regional E-911 Communications System with Broward County.
? In 2002, the voters of Broward County voted for the development of a consolidated Countywide Enhanced 911(E-911) communications infrastructure.
? The Broward County Charter was amended to require the County Commission to establish a Countywide communications infrastructure for fire and emergency medical services in order to facilitate closest unit response for life-threatening emergencies and support for regional specialty teams.
? In 2010, the Broward League of Cities formed a multi-jurisdictional team of public safety professionals, staff and elected officials to further analyze and make recommendations for the consolidation of 911 Public Safety communications and dispatch.
? In 2011, the Public Safety Committee of the Broward League of Cities, Broward's Fire and Police Chiefs Associations, Broward County-City Manager Association and the Board of Directors of the Broward League of Cities all adopted resolutions calling for the implementation of a consolidated E-911 communications system. Based on these resolutions, the Broward County Commission ratified the formation of the Broward County Consolidation Communications Committee.
