Body

Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

A stormwater drainage canal located inside Broward County’s West Lake Park drains from the Hollywood Lakes North Neighborhood to the Intracoastal Waterways. This canal requires maintenance including vegetation clearing, grubbing and sediment dredging to restore the flows.

To undertake the maintenance activities, the Department of Public Utilities (“Department”) requires access authorization from Broward County.

The Department Director recommends that the City Commission authorize the appropriate City officials to execute the attached Site Access Agreement between Broward County and the City of Hollywood for Drainage Canal Maintenance at West Lake Park.

Fiscal Impact

Approval of this item will not fiscally impact the City as this resolution seeks to execute an agreement with Broward County to access the drainage canal at West Lake Park.  The cost of the maintenance is unknown until negotiations are finalized and required funding will be determined at that time.

Department staff will manage this project.  No additional staff are needed as a result of this resolution.
