Title
A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Approving And Authorizing The Appropriate City Officials To Execute The Attached Amended Agreement Between The City Of Hollywood And Hope South Florida, Inc. To Provide Tenant Based Rental Assistance Through Home Investment Partnership Act Funding In An Amount Not To Exceed $341,000.00.
Body
Staff Recommends: Approval of Resolution.
Explanation:
HOME funds are used to expand the supply of decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing, with primary attention to rental housing, for very low-income and low-income families.
In order to do so, one tool used is Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA). TBRA provides rental subsidies to cost burdened renters.
Over sixty percent of renters in the City of Hollywood are cost-burdened which puts them at risk of homelessness.
To aid in addressing this issue the City entered into agreement not to exceed $100,000.00 with HOPE South Florida, Inc. to provide TBRA services to City of Hollywood residents that have been referred as part of the Broward County Continuum of Care system.
This resolution increases the funding of that agreement to $341,000.00.
The additional funding will allow HOPE South Florida, Inc. to provide services to approximately an additional twenty-two households.
The Community Development Advisory Board voted in favor of this request at their March 11, 2015 meeting.
