Staff Recommends:  Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Police Department plans to apply for $50,000 in funding from the Florida Inland Navigation District 2024 Waterways Assistance Program (“FIND WAP”). The planned project, which totals $100,000.00, is the installation of boat lift jet docks.

The boat lift jet dock will store patrol boats out of the water.  This increases the vessel's lifespan, decreases patrol response time, and supports environmental sustainability for the marine industry.

The FIND WAP requires a 1 to 1 match equivalent to $50,000.00 from the grant recipient. The Police Department will allocate Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds for the match if the grant is awarded.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, grant funding in the amount of $50,000.00 will be appropriated in the FY 2025 Operating Budget of the Police Grant Fund (Fund 113).

Funding for the City’s proposed grant match, which is 50% of the project cost of $100,000.00 will be available in the Law Enforcement Forfeiture Fund.
