Explanation:

The Department of Public Utilities (“Department”) requires the purchase of three Vertical Coupled Solids Handling Pumps for the effluent filter feed pumping station.  The effluent filter feed pump station delivers pre-treated effluent water through the sand filters.  Once filtered, the water is sent to the off-site Reclaim Pump Station, from which it is distributed to Reuse Water customers.

These pumps will be procured through Fairbanks Nijhuis Pumps (formally Fairbanks Morse), dba Barney’s Pumps, Inc. (“Barney’s”), which is the sole distributor serving the municipal market in South Florida.  A notice to Sole Source Number NTSS-277-25 was posted electronically on OpenGov from 01-21-25, through 01-28-25, and received no inquiries.

The Department Director and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the City Commission approve and authorize the issuance of a Purchase Order to Barney’s to purchase the necessary pumps in an amount up to $466,953.00.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this purchase is available in the FY 2025 Operating Budget in account number 442.400602s.53600.552240.000000.000.000.

No additional staff will be needed as a result of this resolution.
