Explanation:

The Police Department submitted an application to the Broward Marine Advisory Committee for the 2023-2024 Broward County Boating Improvement Program Grant to assist with the removal of derelict vessels from waterways within the City.

The Police Department’s Marine Patrol Division oversees enforcement of the waterway regulations within the City of Hollywood, including but not limited to issues relating to derelict and abandoned vessels wherein the City incurs certain costs for removal of such vessels.  The City of Hollywood desires to promote and enhance the safe and pleasurable use of the navigable waterways within the City.  If awarded, the acceptance of said grant funds would allow for the removal of more derelict vessels.

Fiscal Impact:

If approved, grant funding in the amount of $50,000.00 will be appropriated in the FY 2023 Operating Budget of the Police Grants Fund.
