Staff Recommends: Presentation.

Explanation:

In March 2025, Broward County completed the County wide Risk Assessment and Resilience Plan (Resilient Broward Plan), a multi-year effort developed in collaboration with municipal governments and water management partners to assess vulnerabilities and guide long term resilience investments.

On April 28, 2026, the Broward County Commission unanimously approved $20 million to implement priority projects identified in, or consistent with, the Resilient Broward Plan. These funds are intended to accelerate infrastructure that offers immediate flood risk reduction. The program is expected to provide up to 25% cost share on stormwater water conveyance projects, which are designed to move rainwater efficiently through drainage systems to reduce flooding. These infrastructure improvements are expected to reduce flooding in residential neighborhoods, protect critical facilities, and enhance overall community resilience against extreme weather events.
