Explanation:
The City’s African American Advisory Council (“AAAC”) was created in 1993 to act as a liaison between the African American community and the City.
The AAAC’s purpose is to keep the Commission and staff informed as to the needs and concerns of African Americans in the City of Hollywood. The Council is dedicated to being proactive in the organization and structuring of economics, employment, housing, education and cultural awareness in order to empower the African American community, as well as the City of Hollywood at large.
Members of the AAAC must be of African American descent, and/or have extensive knowledge and interest in the African American community.
There is currently one vacant regular position on the AAAC. Basil Phillips has submitted an application for consideration.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this resolution will not fiscally impact the City.
