Explanation:
Section 166.0451, Florida Statutes, requires municipalities to prepare and maintain an inventory of municipally owned real property that is appropriate for use as affordable housing. The statute further requires that the inventory be reviewed at a public hearing and that the governing body adopt a resolution identifying such properties.
The City of Hollywood maintains an inventory of City-owned properties through its Geographic Information System (GIS) and other public records. In accordance with the requirements of Section 166.0451, Florida Statutes, City staff conducted a review of City-owned vacant properties to determine whether any parcels are appropriate for future affordable housing development based on factors such as location, access to infrastructure, zoning, future land use designation, and compatibility with surrounding development patterns. As a result of this review, staff identified the vacant parcels listed in Exhibit "A" as appropriate for consideration for affordable housing development. Adoption of the proposed resolution updates and supplements the City's existing inventory of municipally owned real property by specifically identifying these parcels as appropriate for affordable housing purposes.
