Explanation:
The Department of Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts has determined the need for renovations to neighborhood parks within the community to meet a variety of recreation and leisure interests.
A state grant is available through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) to develop public recreation parks and facilities.
The proposed improvements to Driftwood Community Center playground set forth in the grant application include a new inclusive playground apparatus for ages 2-12, shade structure, safety surface and solar powered security lighting.
The Department of Parks Recreation and Cultural Arts desires to apply for this grant in the approximate amount of $158,200.00.
The Department of Financial Services is hereby authorized to create certain accounts to recognize revenue and appropriate program funding.
The required match for the FY 2018/19 FRDAP grant is 50% or $79,100.00 and will be paid from Account Number 34.3100.18362.572.006453.
If awarded this grant funding will move the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts forward in implementing more inclusionary playground equipment in our parks.
