Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The Police Department desires to expand its technology program to supplement operations and investigations.  This initiative phase will strategically place license plate readers (LPRs) Citywide to monitor roadways.  LPRs are an investigative tool that captures real-time license plate information and vehicle characteristics for crime-solving.

The Police Department plans to utilize Flock Safety equipment and related software. The services and equipment are procured through an Omnia Partners cooperative piggyback led by Cobb County, Georgia.  Up to 60 Flock Safety cameras will be implemented initially with capacity for additional locations based on need and funding availability.

Fiscal Impact:

A portion of the funding for the Blanket Purchase Agreement will be available in the FY 2025 Operating Budget in account number 001.204001.52100.531170.000000.000.000, and will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years’ subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission. Additional cameras may be implemented if additional funding is identified.
