Explanation:
The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization to execute he attached Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Agreement with Florida East Coast Railway, LLC, in order to assist the Florida East Coast Railway Police Department in Law Enforcement emergencies and public safety matters, in accordance with Section 23.1225(1), Florida Statutes. In order to ensure public safety, maintain adequate levels of police services to address the possibility or occurrence of law enforcement problems, or in the case of any natural or manmade disaster, the Florida East Coast Railway Police Department has requested the Hollywood Police Department's participation in a Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Agreement pursuant to Section 23.1225(1), Florida Statutes, the Florida Mutual Aid Act. The attached Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Agreement will remain effective through 2019, to contend with reciprocal requests for public safety assistance or other law enforcement problems. The State of Florida enacted the Mutual Aid Act to provide opportunities for Law Enforcement Agencies to contract for cooperation and assistance across jurisdictional lines.
