Explanation:
The City of Hollywood's African American Advisory Council (AAAC) was created to keep the City Commission and staff informed regarding the needs and concerns of African Americans in the City of Hollywood. The Council is dedicated to being proactive in the organization and structuring of economics, employment, housing, education, and cultural awareness to empower the African American community and the City of Hollywood at large.
African American Advisory Council members must reside or work in the City of Hollywood, be of African American descent, and/or have extensive knowledge and interest in the African American community.
The African American Advisory Council may consist of 13 members.
The current make-up of the Council is as follows:
Current Regular Members: Joann Fullington-Reese, Carmella Gardner, Georgette Lasley, Marcus Moise, Deborah Reaves Deveaux, Nicole Rowe, Joanne Taitt, Nila Williams, and Christina Frazier.
Regular members whose terms will expire on June 30, 2026: Joann Fullington-Reese, Marcus Moise, and Joanne Taitt.
Members removed due to absences: Suze Dormevil and Cynthia Horat.
Members who resigned prior to their term expiration: Basil Phillips and Chanel Williams, whose term was set to expire on June 30, 2026.
There are currently seven vacant positions on the African American Advisory Council.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this resolution will not fiscally impact the City.
