Explanation:
The Information Technology Department along with various other City departments rely on AT&T for wireless communications and equipment which enhances the City's ability to provide vital services to our residents.
Blanket Purchase Agreement PA600477 was approved by Commission on April 20, 2022 for an amount of $1,083.333.00. Subsequently, the City Manager approved a change order of $88,000.00 which increased the Blanket Purchase Agreement to $1,171,333.33.
The increase request is due to the migration of over 400 cellular devices from alternate cellular carriers to AT&T in order to be placed on FirstNet. FirstNet is a nationwide wireless network that provides communications for first responders and public safety professionals. FirstNet is designed to be reliable, secure, and prioritized over commercial networks. FirstNet was created by the Federal Government and is operated exclusively by AT&T.
The increased expenditures with AT&T are offset by decreased expenditures with alternate cellular carriers.
The approved Blanket Purchase Agreement will be available for use by all City departments.
Fiscal Impact:
A portion of the funding for the Blanket Purchase Agreement is available in the FY 2025 Operating Budget in account number 557.130101.51900.541022.000000.000.000 and will be budgeted in subsequent fiscal years' operating budgets subject to approval and adoption by the City Commission.
