Explanation:
The Police Department has been authorized as a sub-grantee to receive Urban Area Security Initiative (“UASI”) sub-grant funds in the approximate amount of $294,645.00 from the Department of Homeland Security to enhance public safety and emergency management UASI approved projects, training and equipment.
The grant dollars will fund projects and equipment in the Police Department. Projects could include CCTV/LPR, a drone for situational awareness, an antenna mast trailer, and fingerprint scanners. Final project approval is pending with the City of Miami.
Fiscal Impact:
If approved, grant funding in the amount of $294,645.00 will be appropriated in the FY 2025 Operating Budget of the Police Grants Fund (113), as detailed in Exhibit 1.
