Body
Staff Recommends: City Manager would like to nominate a City Commission member to the Broward County Homeless Initiative Partnership Continuum of Care Board.
Explanation:
The City of Hollywood Homeless Services Plan was presented to and ultimately approved by the Hollywood City Commission on July 7, 2021, providing for strategy and action steps relating to homelessness in Hollywood. One of the Recommended Action Steps in the plan is to appoint a representative to fill the City of Hollywood’s seat on the Broward County Continuum of Care (CoC) Board. Broward County recently updated its criteria for representation on the CoC Board to allow a municipal elected official to serve as a City’s representative on the Board.
The appointed Hollywood elected official would join Officer Dwayne Chung, who has been nominated to serve as Hollywood’s law enforcement representative on the CoC board. City staff will ensure the appointee remains fully informed of the City’s efforts to address homelessness as well as any assistance he or she needs from Broward County and the CoC.
Fiscal Impact:
Approval of this item will not fiscally impact the City.
