A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Authorizing The Appropriate City Officials To Apply For And If Awarded, Accept The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization's (Broward MPO) Complete Streets And Other Localized Initiatives Program Award, In The Amount Of $1,500,000.00 To Implement A Complete Streets Project On Federal Highway From Johnson Street To Taft Street For a Total Estimated Project Cost Of $2,358,658.00; And If Successfully Awarded Committing The City To Fund $858,658.00 Of The Total Project Cost Together With The Applicable Operating And Maintenance Costs Once Complete; Authorizing The Establishment Of Certain Accounts To Recognize And Appropriate The City Required Funding, If Awarded; And Further Authorizing The Appropriate City Officials To Execute Any And All Applicable Program Documents And Agreement(s).

Explanation:
The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (Broward MPO) has adopted "Commitment 2040", their "Long Range Transportation Plan" (LRTP) and has funding available from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This has set the stage for a new more streamlined program for funding local mobility projects. The Broward MPO has established the "Complete Streets and Other Localized Initiatives Program". The mobility projects include complete streets projects.
The City of Hollywood and the CRA have been looking to fulfill a long term vision for the future of Federal Highway and a complete streets project would meet that vision. By breaking the corridor down into five (5) segments with five (5) separate applications (3 City Applications and 2 CRA Applications), the City can maximize the Federal funding available for the project. There is also a possibility that additional funding from FDOT may be identified.
