Explanation:
The Fire Rescue & Beach Safety Department (“Department”) responds to a significant number of medical emergencies each year, including overdose-related incidents that affect both residents and visitors. The Florida Department of Health awarded the Department $344,988.00 in OD2A grant funding for the period from May 1, 2026, to August 31, 2028, to implement evidence-based strategies for overdose prevention, surveillance, and response. Grant funds will support program components, including personnel, medical supplies, outreach materials, training, and other resources necessary to enhance overdose prevention and response capabilities. These efforts will strengthen the Department’s ability to conduct community outreach, improve data collection and analysis, and coordinate with regional partners to address the ongoing opioid crisis.
Fiscal Impact:
If approved, grant funding in the amount of $344,988.00 will be appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2026 Operating Budget for the Hollywood OD2A Program as detailed in the attached Exhibit “1.”
